CHECKLIST OF THINGS TO BRING

TO YOUR TAX INTERVIEW

     

  • Completed client tax organizer - this will save time at the tax interview and adds efficiency during the tax preparation process
  • A copy of last year’s federal and state tax returns (new clients only)
  • All copies of W-2 forms for wages, and K-1 forms for partnerships, S-corporations, trusts, etc.
  • 1099 forms reporting all interest and dividends
  • 1099 forms reporting all retirement account distributions or rollovers
  • 1099 forms reporting all mutual funds and stock sales for the year, as well as original purchase date and cost for the block that was sold (not the price per share)
  • 1099 forms reporting unemployment compensation, state tax refunds, social security benefits, and lottery and gambling winnings received during the year
  • 5498 forms reporting all IRA balances and accounts, if you took out any IRA distributions
  • Record of each federal and state estimated tax payment made, including date paid
  • Names, addresses, social security numbers, and amounts paid to all child care providers
  • All year-end mortgage lender statements including those refinanced or paid-off during the year
  • Escrow statements for property bought or sold during the year
  • Receipts for any charitable contributions over $250 (IRS requirement)
  • Social security numbers for all dependents (for new clients or new dependents)
  • Summarized list of business and/or rental annual income and expenses by categories
  • Any IRS or state tax board correspondence you have received
  • A list of any questions you may have, including other projects that you may want to inquire about us helping you with
  • Any other documents you feel may be needed or that you want to discuss
